Nathan Ellis has been ruled out of Scotland’s last two T20I matches against England due to a hamstring injury
The injury season – picked up while playing for London Spirit in the Hundred – is frustrating Ellis. He has played 17 T20Is, including three appearances in the 2024 T20 World Cup, but his chances depend on at least one of the ‘big three’ being rested.
Hazlewood arrived in England ahead of the first T20I on Wednesday at the Utilita Bowl. “[He] he will join the squad in Southampton as he recovers from a minor calf strain,” said a CA spokesman. Ellis was also due to feature in the five-match ODI series against England, which starts on September 19, with a replacement for now.
Meredith could, in theory, be cleared to play for Somerset on Finals Day – at Edgbaston on Saturday – but club captain Lewis Gregory said after their quarter-final win on Thursday night that they did not expect him to be available. Somerset have no players in England’s T20I squad, so they will have their full squad on their hands.
