Pakistan News – PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed Multan and Rawalpindi as Test venue for England series

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi appeared to confirm that the entire three-Test series in Pakistan against England in October will be held in Pakistan. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the development work at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, it was reported that Multan and Rawalpindi will host all three tests.

Naqvi’s spokesman Mohammad Rafiullah confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that the ECB has given permission to hold the series in Multan and Rawalpindi, and that they are satisfied with the venue.

Construction work at many cricket grounds in Pakistan has made it difficult to host England’s three-match series. Karachi, which was supposed to officially host the second Test, will not be able to do so due to the renovation of the National Stadium. The meeting of the Shanghai Corporation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad from October 15-16 rules out any possibility of the second Test being played in Rawalpindi. The heads of several member states are scheduled to attend, and the security and accommodation demands involved in hosting the test in the capital’s twin cities cannot be justified.

While Naqvi’s comments should, in theory, rule out any Test concepts in this series taking place outside Pakistan, there has been no official comment from the PCB yet. The board is yet to officially finalize the pitches for each of the three Test matches of this series.

The pressure to do so with urgency is great. A large number of England fans are expected to attend the series, but any plans will not be made until the venues are finalised. The coach of England, Brendon McCullum, also pointed out that his team must know the fields in advance so that they can choose a team that matches the conditions.

England are scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on October 2, with the first Test starting on October 7.
