Man Utd and Real Madrid ‘vie’ for Olympic gold medal

Manchester United and Real Madrid are said to be interested in Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez.

The 21-year-old is a right-back but can also play on the wing and in midfield.

According to the Spanish outlet ASUnited sent scouts to watch Juanlu during Spain’s 2024 Olympic gold medal campaign.

Red Devils officials are said to be impressed enough with Juanlu to continue following his progress in La Liga so far this season. He scored in Sevilla’s 2-2 draw at Las Palmas on the opening weekend of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Madrid is believed to be interested in Juanlu because of his physical profile, which combines strength and speed in addition to his flexibility in position.

Sevilla are trying to eliminate interest and tie Juanlu to a new contract, with his current deal at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan until 2026.

His current contract contains a release clause of 20 million euros and Sevilla are also willing to increase that number in any new deal, believing it is worth more than that sum.

Bournemouth also looked at a deal for Juanlu earlier this summer, but their efforts fell through and they moved for Julian Araujo from Barcelona.

Juanlu has made a total of 43 appearances in all competitions so far in his career and has experience in the UEFA Champions League.
