‘They F*** With Your Legacy’: Gilbert Arenas Defends Westbrook
Gilbert Arenas is sick to death of the criticism surrounding Russell Westbrook and he’s letting everyone know.
On his show, Arenas highlighted the popular trend of trashing Westbrook’s triple-double record and haters belittling his talent and trying to diminish the legacy he’s built.
Russ holds the record for the most triple-doubles in NBA history and Arenas says people are quick to forget.
“It’s strange because it’s like they were trying to discredit his triple-double because it was so easy for him,” said Arenas. Gil’s place. “You change history and when mother***** has heroes, it’s hard for her to let go sometimes and I think that when I tried to say ‘These numbers don’t really exist’ she ended up disrespecting the man who did it. These are the people who vote [for MVP] they’ve got your inheritance in their hands, so if you don’t kiss their asses they’re mad about your inheritance. And that’s the bug problem in sports.”
Before the season even started, the disrespect for Westbrook has well and truly begun.
An ESPN football analyst recently grilled Russ, until Westbrook’s wife Nina commented on it publicly.
Just this week, Russ’ three-point shooting percentage was a talking point on Brian Windhorst’s podcast, The Hoop Collective.
It led Windhorst to say, “I’m not going to let him shoot the three honestly anymore.”
Last season for the Clippers, Westbrook shot 27.3 percent from three-point range and 45.4 percent from the field.
He’ll be looking to improve on that when he suits up for the Nuggets for the first time in his career in 2024-25.
Overall, Russ has a 30.4 percent shooting record for his career.
