Arteta has signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal
Mikel Arteta feels “very proud” after signing a new long-term contract at Arsenal.
Arteta joined the Gunners in 2019 and has re-established the club as a genuine Premier League contender after finishing runners-up Manchester City two seasons ago.
The Spaniard, whose contract reportedly runs until 2027, won the FA Cup in 2020 and led Arsenal back into the Champions League after a seven-year absence.
Arteta said: “I feel very proud, very happy and looking forward to what’s next. I’m proud to be where I am and to have the relationships I have with everyone at the club.
“I feel very fortunate to work every day with good people and the passion we have here. I feel very motivated, I feel challenged, I feel supported and I want to do more than what we have already done together.
“We are in partnership with the players and everyone in the team, we are looking forward to the coming years, we have our fans who have changed the club and the team in spirit. Our supporters have transformed individuals and we are different now. You can see that we are different and to me, that is down to them. We look forward to continuing the journey together.”

The news is a welcome boost for Arsenal as they face Tottenham in North London on Sunday.
Arsenal chairman Josh Kroenke said: “We are delighted to extend Mikel’s contract.
“Mikel is a diligent and passionate manager, who never ceases to pursue excellence. He deeply understands Arsenal’s values, and since joining us as Head Coach in December 2019, he has taken the team to another level in the Arsenal way.
“There is a good team spirit at the club, and with the strong relationship we have between us and the belief in what we do, we look forward with excitement and confidence, as we continue our goal – to win together.”
Sporting Director Edu added: “We are delighted that Mikel has signed a new long-term contract. It’s a great and very proud moment for everyone at the club and it’s an important part of what we’re all working towards.
“Mikel has shown his qualities from the first day he joined us, not only as a football manager, but as a person with amazing values. We strongly believe in what we do and what we want to achieve together. Mikel’s new contract gives us stability and a clear direction as we aim to score new points.”

Arteta, whose playing career included five years with Arsenal, succeeded Unai Emery as manager after spending four years as part of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff at Manchester City.
Guardiola’s influence was easy to see as Arteta quickly molded the Gunners into a hot, multi-talented side that has now become City’s biggest challenger for the Premier League title.
