It was an eventful Saturday at the Solheim Cup

Hello friends and happy Saturday from Robert Trent Jones Golf Club! It was a busy, fun-filled day here at the Solheim Cup and morale is high as we head into Sunday’s singles matches.
I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again: the vibes of the spectators at the Solheim Cup are unmatched. This is the kind of event you want to bring your family to. This is where I would bring my friend if I had one day to turn them into a golf fan. The gallery supports and builds as galleries get. I’ve seen young children exchange friendship rings at the Solheim Cup, adults share information on golf courses and new friends split a soft pretzel while cheering on their favorite golfers. The kind of people you want to be surrounded by seem to be the ones who go to the Solheim Cup.
Alright, on to Saturday’s action.
Great times on the first tee
The shuttle situation was fixed before day 2 of the Solheim Cup, meaning the first tee was contested for the opening shots in both one-shot and four-ball matches today. Karsten Solheim’s son John sent the crowd into a frenzy when he started throwing merchandise at the stands, and Jessica Alba did the same a few hours later.
The fact that we’ve had the President of the US and the star of the critically acclaimed 2011 film “Spy Kids” appear in the first series of afternoon shows for the last two days makes me wonder who will appear on Sunday. TikTok? A professional athlete from another sport? The options are endless and I wait to be revealed with a calm breath.
Also, it turns out Nelly Korda is as good a hype woman as she is a golfer. This video from his microphone in the first game from the beginning of the afternoon games is very interesting.
Alison Lee’s hole-out has the tour players talking
Alison Lee’s eagle hole on No. 2 was incredible, although the caddies’ celebrations may be what people remember most.
Lee was doing it alongside Megan Khang, and it turns out that the pros and their pirates made a deal about any potential leaks. I’m just surprised it happened so quickly.
It’s funny. Several PGA Tour players had a fun time on Twitter.

Will this type of celebration be the next big thing in golf? Probably (definitely) not. But it’s always nice to see, and Kevin Kisner has promised to do the same thing when Max Homa comes out of the Presidents Cup in Montreal later this month.
Kisner, written down. We will all arrest you.

I am forever indebted to the American Junior Golf Association, which has sent dozens of photos of current Solheim Cup team members from their days on the Junior Solheim Cup team.
Nelly Korda and Megan Khang always say they go way back, and these photos are pure gold.
It makes me wonder which members of the current Junior Solheim Cup team we’ll see in the big (well, big) phase in several years of time.
