“Nowhere near Premier League quality”

Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has come under fire for his recent performance for West Ham against Fulham.

The Hammers drew 1-1 away at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon in a game they would have lost had it not been for a long-range goal to salvage a point.

Raul Jiminez opened the scoring for the visitors, latching on to a brilliant finish from summer signing Emile Smith-Rowe in the 24th minute to fire the ball into the back of the net.

The visitors struggled to create chances as Marco Silva scored for the Hammers, collecting 21 shots in the competition.

But just as it looked to be a lost cause, forgotten man Danny Ings came up in the 95th minute with a strike to go past Bernd Leno and just inside the near post.

Although Julen Lopetegui’s side managed to pull off a late save, there is no doubt that there will be concerns about the team going forward, especially a defense that struggled to contain Fulham’s attack.

Writing on X after full-time, talkSPORT’s Tome Rennie criticized Mavropanos’ performance saying the defender was not up to Premier League standard.
