Brandin Podziemski on Criticisms Warriors Like Rock Band’s ‘Washed-Up’
Warriors second-year guard Brandin Podziemski has responded to the latest odd comparison his team has received from an unknown NBA coach.
In case you missed it, the coach likened Golden State to a rock-and-roll band past its prime.
“I was thinking about this the other day,” the coach said Extreme Sports‘ Steve Bulpett. “They’re like one of those rock-and-roll bands that are still touring. They still have their best singer, and he can still deliver it at a high level. But it’s not the same band as before – and they haven’t had a hit record in a few years.
“That championship they won against Boston … that seems like the prize of a lifetime now. They had the experience and the technology, and Boston wasn’t ready to deal with that.”
Podziemski was at Oracle Park on Friday and was asked about the odd comment after taking batting practice before the San Francisco Giants game.
“We don’t like to hear that, but we like to hear that we’re going to do something that nobody expects us to do,” said Podziemski, NBC Sports. “They don’t think we’re the Warriors we used to be, and I said, I think it’s the best feeling when you have nothing to lose, and you just go out and prove people wrong.
“I think there are a few guys who have that attitude that are successful in proving people wrong, and I know Steph. [Curry] he is one of those guys. So to be next to him in the backfield and with all our other guys, we’re excited to prove people wrong.”
Curry shared similar sentiments not long ago, explaining how he is succeeding at doubters giving the Warriors hope of winning a title soon.
