Golf Business News – GreenMech appoints new director of sales
Leading timber manufacturer GreenMech has announced the appointment of David Blackwood as their new Marketing Director following the retirement of Martin Lucas.
Blackwood joins GreenMech with a wealth of business acumen gathered from over 30 years of experience in the machinery industry, giving him the foundation to thrive in his new role – leading the sales function across the UK and across GreenMech’s global network.
Blackwood began his career as a Design Engineer at the Massey Ferguson tractor factory in Coventry. From here, he spent the next 15 years working for Massey Ferguson/AGCO in the Asia Pacific region – overseeing all aspects of the business, including product support, sales and marketing. He then took up a position with Kubota UK, managing sales and marketing for their Tractor and Groundcare business across the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and the Baltics.
Blackwood went on to return to AGCO, this time to manage the sales of FELLA hay equipment in western Europe and eventually all markets outside of Europe, for another 10 years before, most recently, he became the UK and Export Sales Manger in Stocks Ag – UK. a leading precision manufacturer and applicator.
With over thirty years of knowledge and experience working with sales at home and overseas, Blackwood is well placed to lead the GreenMech sales team and dealer network in the UK, as well as supporting distributors worldwide in partnership with GreenMech France and GreenMech Germany partners. .
Commenting on his appointment, Blackwood said: “I am looking forward to working with GreenMech – a British engineering success story and brand that is developing new products for the agricultural, landscape and green industries. Since I started at the beginning of July, I feel that I have gained a great understanding of the market, its challenges, but also importantly, its opportunities. I look forward to meeting GreenMech customers past and present, as well as other friends and colleagues at APF 2024.”
