Lakers owner chooses JJ Redick as coach because they want something ‘different’

Many doubted the hiring of JJ Redick as the new Lakers coach, and owner Jeanie Buss finally wants to put an end to these pessimistic rumors. In a recent interview with Petros and the Money Show on AM 570, he went on to discuss the decision and provided insight into why the organization thought he was the right fit for the role.

“We wanted to think differently,” he began forcefully. “You have an idea. I’m not comfortable talking about basketball, but we were looking for someone who would bring something new and focus on developing young players.”

Jeanie has made sure that every franchise is fully behind their new coach, despite being a rookie at the position and leading one of the NBA’s top squads. “JJ is the right person for us. “He knows what this league is about, and I think he’s going to be a great leader,” Buss added.

This season, the league will witness history as LeBron James and his son, Bronny, are on track to become the first two son players to play together in the league. Redick made sure to brush off claims of racism from the situation. “Rob and I didn’t give Bronny anything. Bronny has found this out,” he said.

“Bronny talks about his hard work. Bronny earned this through hard work,” JJ confirmed in July, confident that the 19-year-old has what it takes to go far in the NBA. “And for us, prioritizing the development of players, we look at Bronny as the first example.

“Because of his level of hearing, running, point guard, shooting, passing, there’s a lot to like about his game, and as we build our program to fully develop players, he’s going to have a great opportunity to be a player. The best player in the NBA.”

LeBron has already broken so many records in the league, but he never believed that he would create a new brand involving his eldest son. Never before have father and son played in the NBA at the same time, as they made sure they were ready to face the pressure of playing on the same team together.

The owner of the franchise showed that he had the same experience as his father, while comparing his situation to Bronny and LeBron.

While everyone is wondering if Bronny will call LeBron “daddy” on an NBA court, Jeanie Buss can’t help but feel like she’s been through similar situations with her father, the former owner of the Lakers.

It all started when the woman, 39, told the media that she would not allow her eldest son to call her the way she calls him in their home. “At home, ‘I am Father.’ But on the court, he should call me ‘2-3,’ ‘Bron,’ or ‘GOAT’ if he wants to. It’s up to him,” said James in the episode The shop.

Jeanie then referred to her late father. “You know, I never had that conversation with LeBron or Bronny, but in business situations, I always called my dad Dr. Buss,” he said. “I wanted to keep that boundary clear because that helped us — we weren’t bringing work to the dinner table. So I think LeBron and Bronny are very prepared for this. And I’m glad they got this opportunity.”

During the same interview on The shopLeBron opened up about the expectation. “I’m very happy with the training camp,” he said. “Working with your son is like a huge thing. I can’t wait for this moment. It will be very good for me. It might be the first time I’ve sat back and thought, ‘this is really cool.’”
