Man Utd’s best players in their 7-0 win over Barnsley

While most of their peers were playing UEFA Champions League football on Tuesday evening, Manchester United were having a disappointing Carabao Cup third round clash with Barnsley.

Any disappointment in said situation was quickly put to rest, as the Red Devils showed their fans at Old Trafford.

Man Utd scored seven unanswered goals in the game, with Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Christian Eriksen all finding the back of the net.

Here are United’s best players in the win, courtesy of you 90 min full player ratings.

Alejandro Garnacho: 10/10

Look, it wasn’t against great opposition (no offense, Barnsley fans) but Garnacho was nothing short of extraordinary on Tuesday evening.

The Argentinian was at the heart of every Man Utd attack, showing both his creative flair and clinical presence in front of goal. Those qualities led to Garnacho scoring two goals either side of the break and setting up two more for his teammates.

High performance from a seemingly destined youth*Harry Rednkapp voice*go straight to the top.

Honorable mentions

Marcus Rashford: 10/10

The only decent mention of 10/10 performance?

Yes, it’s bad, but since we scored one more goal, we had to give Garnacho the ‘best player’ award.

That doesn’t take anything away from how good Rashford was on Tuesday. The wide forward looked back to his best, posting two goals and an assist in a 7-0 victory.

His first goal in the game was eye-catching, as he showed trickery, speed and a clinical finish that we hadn’t seen in a long time.

Christian Eriksen: 9/10

Another Man Utd player with three goals to his name in the win, like Rashford, Eriksen scored two and set up another.

The veteran midfielder was technically at a different level from Barnsley’s midfield, misplacing just two passes all game and always finding time on the ball with ease.

A classy trip.
