Wentworth Club has revealed details of a carefully designed project that will see the reimagining of Harry Colt’s original Wentworth property, the East Course, and the creation of a state-of-the-art Golf Academy.
Colt’s East property remains one of the UK’s most highly regarded courses in the country. After researching archived files and information from the industry about the East Course’s original existence, a project led by European Golf Design – and the Wentworth Club’s senior management team – will aim to return the par-68 course to its tropical roots, continuing to provide . a refreshing and fun challenge for beginners and pros alike.
The project – which is now underway – will be largely based on honoring and restoring Colt’s original values. With extensive house reconstruction and reconstruction, a number of the course’s sand traps will be included. Reflecting grassroots golf investment and designed to enhance the overall golf and community offering at the Club, Wentworth’s new golf school will feature three indoor teaching studios, a putting studio, an outdoor short game area and a cafe with outdoor seating.
Equipped with the latest game development technology, the Golf Academy building will be designed to present a landscape-like environment, while the surrounding area will feature nine newly constructed outdoor driving ranges for a more peaceful experience.
Created with all golfers in mind, this facility will bring Wentworth golf facilities to a whole new level of excellence, providing golfers of all abilities and ages with a clear golf course to progress from beginner to advanced.
Further aiding that approach, the construction of the Wentworth Golf Academy will also see the construction of a new Par 3 Course. The layout will allow the course to be rated within the parameters of the World Handicap System – making it certified and suitable for players looking to find their first handicap, while also serving as a high-quality practice course for more advanced players looking to sharpen up. their short games.
