NHL Rumors: Cole Perfetti, Winnipeg Jets Seem Confident Deal Will Be Done
Mick Kern: “He listens to Power Play, Sirius XM, NHL Network Radio channel 91 Mick and Dennis and you. Talking to Dave Pagnotta, the editor-in-chief of Season Four and all the other good stuff. A few others with him.
Dave, we’ve talked about this before. This is the big question, who makes the playoffs? If you knew that, I’m going to bet a bunch of money and buy Sirius XM. Look at Howard Stern, yes. But if you look at the incumbents, it’s a big responsibility for teams to start quickly, or, let me change that, not have a bad start. The Oilers are very different from last year because they are stronger and stronger.
Sorry Dave, Dennis and I agree. We think the Devils make the playoffs. So I think the six in charge are back. So that’s the place for all the other teams, and that’s just in the East. I don’t remember it being this tight, and from a hockey fan’s perspective, it can be frustrating when your team is in that mix. But as a casual hockey viewer, this makes for a very interesting regular season.”
NHL Rumors: Connor McDavid Will Sign His New Deal in Edmonton Next Summer
Dave Pagnotta: “It’s really happening. I mean, as it is, you’re going to have some teams, and it’s going to, I mean, look forward, so I might look a little bit, a little bit down the road because it’s going to make the March 7th Trade Deadline interesting to see what teams are going to be active, what teams are trading, what teams they will buy, which teams are on the edge, they feel like they can make a move, they can add someone, and that will push them up.
Because, look, it’s going to be fun, and we’re going to see some teams play meaningful hockey down the stretch after the trade deadline, going into April and going into April 17, the last day of the regular season, when those games go beyond that. in a month, everyone will have a purpose. So that means more engagement and more frustration for fans. Yes, but engagement.

I think, I think it’s healthy. It makes the league healthy. It makes it viable in all markets. I mean, we know who’s going to be the bottom feeders, and then all the underdogs, like, who’s going to like, we’re going to have four teams that are going to be fighting for that last wild card spot, potentially. in each conference.
And that, yes, that’s exciting. And that will further the argument that yes, the talents are there. So we might add two more teams, maybe four, and a few years after that, we’ll see.”
The puck hasn’t even made it out of the NHL Regular Season and we’re headed to the playoffs.
