West Ham vs Chelsea: Preview, predictions and fixtures
The London derby kicks off Gameweek 5 of the 2024/25 Premier League season when Chelsea make the short trip across the capital to face West Ham United on Saturday lunchtime.
Both clubs brought in new managers in the summer and were separated by three points going into the clash at the London Stadium.
Julen Lopetegui’s Hammers have had a difficult start to the campaign but bounced back with a late draw at Fulham last week, while the Blues registered their second league win under Enzo Maresca with a narrow 1-0 success at Bournemouth.
Here it is 90 min first preview of Saturday’s game week.

Lopetegui has doubts about Emerson Palmieri and Niclas Fullkrug. Emerson can still be seen with his knock described by the Spanish manager as “insignificant”, but Fullkrug is likely to be kept out for his Premier League debut due to fitness concerns.
Danny Ings came off the bench to grab a crucial equalizer last night but that is unlikely to earn the former Southampton striker a start, with Jarrod Bowen possibly part of the West Ham attack in place of Michail Antonio.
West Ham predicted to face Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Mavropanos, Kilman, Emerson; Rodriguez, Alvarez; Kudus, Paqueta, Summerville; Bowen.
Right-backs Reece James and Malo Gusto remain sidelined through injury, meaning Axel Disasi is expected to continue in that role. Romeo Lavia may not be fit to play with a hamstring problem but he is closing in on a return to matchday availability.
Jadon Sancho was instrumental in Chelsea’s late winner at Bournemouth, setting up Christopher Nkunku’s strike after replacing Pedro Neto at half-time. The England midfielder may drop the Portugal international from the starting XI as a result.
Chelsea predicted to face West Ham (4-2-3-1): Sánchez; Disasi, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson.
West Ham have started to live a mediocre life under their new manager, despite winning two games in a row in all competitions before losing to Manchester City and drawing at Fulham. That said, they are still buzzing and boisterous in attack and may need to capitalize on Chelsea’s inexperience to score on Saturday.
The Blues have shown a clinical run already this season when they beat Wolves 6-2, although their three games so far have seen them score just three goals.
However, they approach the weekend as favorites to pick up points at the London Stadium, with the likes of Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke likely to be at the center of their attacking campaigns.
Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Chelsea
