ENG v AUS 2024, ENG vs AUS 2nd ODI Match Report, September 21, 2024

In England won the toss and decided to bowl against Australia

Australia managed to recall the experienced trio of Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell for the second ODI at Headingley after missing the opening match due to illness.

England, who elected to bowl first in an overcast morning, made one change as Olly Stone replaced the rested Jofra Archer. It was always expected that Archer would be handled with care in this series.

“Usually Headingley is a little bit present at the beginning, especially when there is an overcast,” said England captain Harry Brook.

For Australia, the injured Cameron Green, Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis are the three players missing from the Trent Bridge XI. Dwarshuis managed just four overs in his ODI debut before injuring his pectoral muscle while bowling.

Josh Inglis is still injured due to four injuries in the T20I series. Matthew Short has been named in the starting line-up for this match with Mitchell Marsh moving up to number 3.

Australia dominated the opening match as their spinner set saw England bowl out from 213 for 2 before Travis Head made a brilliant 154 not out.
