Lisandro Martinez leaps into 1990s-style sloppiness against Palace

Lisandro Martinez was lucky not to be sent off against Crystal Palace during Saturday evening’s Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.

The Red Devils were the better team in this game but, at the time of writing, they are still being held back by a strong Palace defence.

The away team are lucky to still have 11 players on the field though.

Lisandro Martinez was lucky not to receive a red card against Crystal Palace

Referee David Coote did Erik Ten Hag a huge favor after the 42-year-old calmed down and chose not to show Martinez a straight red card for a nasty challenge on Daichi Kamada.

Despite being in the thick of things for Palace, the Argentinian defender was seen flying alongside Palace’s number 18.

Although the South American failed to make contact with the Japan international, his challenge raised eyebrows and forced Coote to issue a yellow card.

Fans on social media were not happy and thought United’s number six should have been sent to the bathroom early.

“Lisandro Martinez… Why would you make such a terrible challenge????” asked another fan on X.

“Lisandro should have been taken out of there,” another added.

“I fear the things that go through Lisandro Martinez’s head,” said the third.

“That was a dangerous challenge from Lisandro,” another fan entered.

“That Lisandro is unbelievable,” the fifth said.
