Arsenal were expected to reassess their summer transfer target before January

It is reported that Arsenal are expected to look again at the possibility of signing Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia before the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old was a target for the Gunners in the summer, although a deal fell through and Neto was replaced, coming in as a back-up goalkeeper behind David Raya, while Aaron Ramsdale joined Southampton.

However, sources close to Garcia expect Arsenal to look at the Spanish stopper again this December, in time to find something when the transfer window opens again in January, according to the Daily Mirror.

Neto looks like a great addition to Arsenal’s squad as an alternative to Raya, but it’s also easy to see why Mikel Arteta and co. he might consider Garcia a better long-term option as someone to fight for Raya’s spot and possibly replace him later on.

Garcia transfer: Arsenal to make another move for Espanyol goalkeeper?

Arsenal appear set to continue their pursuit of Garcia, if the Mirror article is anything to go by, so it’s clear the north London giants should rate the player highly.

However, this may come as a surprise to many Arsenal fans, who will be keen to see more work done to try and sign a new striker, or at least a versatile attacking player who can run out wide or forward.

Players like Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli haven’t really played for a long time now, so the lack of alternatives in that department puts a lot of pressure on the likes of Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz, among others. for Arteta to choose from.

AFC have made a lot of signings in defense and in goal during Arteta’s tenure, so perhaps it feels strange to continue going that way when other areas can’t really be improved.
