During the 23rd game of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 in the middle Guyana Amazon Warriors again Antigua and Barbuda Falcons wicket keeper Azam Khan produced a lightning-quick strike to knock out the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons Justin Greaves.

The dismissal happened when the spinner of Warriors, Gudakesh Motiebowled a smart delivery that swung away from Greaves. Sensing Greaves coming down the track, Motie pushed the ball outside the off stump, causing it to spin and reach the batter. Greaves, who was already out of his crease, was left stranded when Azam collected the ball well and bailed quickly. Greaves departed after scoring 5 runs off 6 balls.

A 27 run victory Guyana Amazon Warriors

Batting first, the Guyana Amazon Warriors posted a total of 135/7 in their 20 overs. The team’s innings was strengthened by Menzi Aliwho played a crucial knock of 42 runs off 33 deliveries, which provided the much-needed stability. Despite losing wickets in regular time, the Warriors managed to score 136 against the Falcons.

In reply, the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons struggled to get going, being bowled out for 108 all out in 18.5 overs. Warriors bowlers, led by Dwaine Pretorius and Ali, put on an outstanding show. Both Pretorius and Ali took 3 wickets each, making it difficult for the Falcons batsmen to gain any momentum.

Thanks to their decent bowling and strong fielding, the Guyana Amazon Warriors secured a comfortable victory by 27 runs. Moeen Ali, for his all-round performance was rightly named the Man of the Match.
