Golf Business News – 54 appoints Head of Tourism

Global sports and entertainment agency 54 is seeking further growth in its ability to deliver high-impact tourism strategies at major sports and events venues with the arrival of Daniel Wright in the role of Head of Tourism.

Wright, who has extensive experience in the luxury hospitality industry with individual properties, management firms, DMCs, and has enjoyed close relationships throughout his career with national authorities, will lead tourism development across a portfolio of 54 clients worldwide. He is tasked with ensuring the delivery of best-in-class solutions to help destinations increase global visibility and inbound tourism.

Another important part of the role will be to facilitate communication between local stakeholders in order to use the potential of the tourism product portfolio, and to consult on national development plans on behalf of governments, tourism authorities, owners and investors.

Wright has been based in the UAE for almost ten years, welcoming inbound tourists from all over the world to enjoy golf, motorsport and other sporting events and activities in the Middle East.

Most recently, he has been working for Miral Destinations alongside the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi to promote all properties on Saadiyat Island, a destination renowned for its luxurious hospitality and cultural experience.

Wright said: “It’s a very exciting time to be joining the 54 team as they grow rapidly around the world. Our growing initiatives will bring new opportunities to destinations that want to increase their share of the international tourism market after the pandemic. Our service set is well positioned to deliver comprehensive solutions, both upstream in areas such as strategic advice and commercial strategy, as well as downstream in events and marketing.

“I have long admired 54’s spirit of innovation and ambition, and look forward to showing current and future customers the scale of what we can achieve together”.

Ed Edwards, CEO of 54, said: “54, among other established services, was established as a solutions provider for facilities and destinations, providing expertise that helped to increase the revenue from sports tourism properties. It is a pleasure to add Daniel to the team and develop this capability further, which will unlock significant value for 54 customers in inbound visits, asset utilization and capital appreciation.
