IND vs BAN: Abhishek Nayar spilled the beans on India’s XI playing the Kanpur Test

India is ready to face it Bangladesh in the second Test match of the two-match series at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from Friday, September 27. Both teams had an intense practice session on a sunny day following their arrival in the city.

India, currently leads the series 1-0aiming to complete a sweep of Bangladesh and cement their position as the top-ranked team in the World Test Championship cycle. In the last Test at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, India played with three pacers and two spinners, taking advantage of the help provided by the red clay pitch.

However, the Kanpur stadium is expected to be different. Known for its dark ground, it may provide first aid to runners but will gradually become a spinner’s paradise as the game progresses. With low bounce and slow conditions expected, Indian spinners are expected to be present.

Kuldeep Yadav, a local boy, is a strong contender to play in the 11, especially given India’s previous success with spinners in this position.

In the pre-match press conference, India’s batting coach, Abhishek Nayar, was tight-lipped about the playing XI. He emphasized that the final decision will depend on the condition of the stadium on the day of the match, as the Kanpur stadium has undergone major changes.

Notably, two venues have been set up for the deciders of the series.

“I can’t give you the playing XI right now. Everyone is available. I don’t know where we will play yet. Circumstances can be a major factor in determining team composition. Conditions have changed a lot here, we are expecting a sunny day here tomorrow,” Nayar said.

The last Test match at Green Park Stadium was from 25 to 29 November, 2021, when India faced New Zealand. The match ended in a draw, with significant visibility issues affecting the final session of play. Poor lighting conditions led to frustration for the Indian team, as they failed to secure a win despite having a strong position throughout the game.
