“I wish you were Australian…” Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh pick a cricketer with an Aussie vibe
Australian cricket has long been synonymous with an aggressive, competitive spirit. Their mindset is characterized by a relentless pursuit of victory, an overemphasis on physical fitness, and a no-nonsense attitude. Australian players are often known for their aggressive tactics, both on and off the field. This “Aussie bravado” has fueled their success over the years, but it has also sometimes caused arguments and clashes with opponents. Despite these ups and downs, the unique concept of the Australian cricket team remains a powerful force in the sporting world.
A wicketkeeper batsman, he has captured the hearts of cricket fans around the world with his fearless approach to the game. But it seems that he has won the praise of two Australiatop cricketers – Travis Head again Mitchell Marsh. In a recent video, both Head and Marsh named the wicketkeeper as the Indian cricketer they believe is the most Australian.
The Aussie connection is described by Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh
Head, Australia’s opener, praised Rishabh Panthis aggressive nature and expressed his belief that the Indian stumper “will be a lot of fun to play with.”
“The Indian cricketer I believe is the most Australian would be Rishabh Pant. I think the way he acts with aggression, the way he does his job, he would be a lot of fun to play with.” Head said in a Star Sports video.
Marsh, on the other hand, was impressed by Pant’s mix of violence and individuality, calling him the “ripping man” he wished to be in Australia.
“He is a young man who rips. I wish you were from Australia. He has obviously been through a lot in the last few years. Hell of a comeback. He is a direct person, he is very young, he likes to win. He is very much in competition with someone, I think, who has an easy-going personality – always laughing and smiling. You got that big smile,” Marsh added about the Indian wicketkeeper.
Pant’s connection with Australia goes beyond his style of play. He gave some of his best performances against the Aussies in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In 7 Tests against Australia, Pant scored 624 runs at an impressive average of 62.40, including an unforgettable 159* in Sydney during the 2018-19 tour.

The return of years
Pant’s recent return to red-ball cricket in India has been nothing short of spectacular. After last playing a Test in December 2022, a few days before his car accident, the southpaw made a triumphant comeback in the first Test against him. Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He scored 39 and 109 in the match, helping India to a convincing 280-run victory.
The way to be fearless
Pant’s aggressive style of batting is often compared to Australia’s style of play. He has the best record in Test cricket, having scored 2,419 runs in 34 matches at an average of 44.8, and six hundreds and 11 half-centuries. His ability to counter and change the mood of the game has made him a valuable asset to the Indian team.
I am looking forward to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy
With India set to tour Australia for five Tests as part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy from November 2024 to January 2025, Pant’s performance will be crucial to India’s success. His ability to score runs against the Aussies and his connection to the Australian style of play will no doubt be helpful to the Indian team.
As Pant continues to impress with his performances and Aussie personality, it is clear that he has captured the attention and respect of cricket fans and players alike.
