Kieron Pollard leads Trinbago Knight Riders to a comfortable win
However, despite Theekshana’s early impact, Trinbago Knight Riders managed to post a competitive total of 175/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Kieron Pollardthe Knight Riders captain, led the way with a blistering 42 off 27 balls, including four towering sixes. His important batting held the innings, and ensured that his team had a strong foundation.
Near Theekshana, Afghanistan Naveen-ul-Haq he was also an important player for Royals football. He matched Theekshana’s efforts, taking three wickets in his four-over spell. Together, they limited the Knight Riders’ middle order from faltering in the latter stages of the innings.
In reply, Barbados Royals struggled to find momentum in their chase. Alick Athanaze was the only bright spot for the Royals, who top scored with 44 runs off 33 balls. His effort kept the Royals’ hopes alive, but regular wickets prevented any chance of building a meaningful partnership. The TKR skaters were clinical in defending their value, with Akeal Hosein to be a great player. Hosein’s brilliant spell of four overs saw him pick up three wickets while conceding only 15 runs, hampering the Royals’ batting order.
The Royals ended their innings at 145/9, falling 30 runs short of the target. The Knight Riders bowlers applied relentless pressure throughout the innings, leaving little room for the Royals to stage a comeback.
With this win, TKR have cemented their place in the points table, while the Royals are left thinking about the missed opportunities as the CPL 2024 season reaches its knockout stage.
