Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley says that the home of The Masters was badly damaged by Hurricane Helene but vows that the tournament will be played next April as planned.
Ridley said Augusta National suffered “significant damage” from the storm, knocking out power and water at the popular school.
“There was a lot of damage and we have a lot of people working hard to get us back. We’ve had a lot of people working at the club, and what I’m most proud of is that while everyone was focused on getting us back up and running, our staff were very focused on the community as a whole.
“We don’t really know what that will mean for the golf course, but I can tell you if it’s humanely possible, we’ll be back in business in no time.”
Ridley also announced that the club has donated $5 million to a fund that supports local recovery efforts from the hurricane, which hit the southeastern United States last week.
“I was in Augusta in the days after the storm and I saw firsthand its devastating impact,” Ridley said. “Our employees, neighbors, friends and business owners need and deserve immediate and meaningful help to overcome the hardships facing them throughout Augusta.”
Ridley said the Masters will start on April 10 as planned.
“The 2025 Masters will be held,” he said. “It will be on the scheduled days.”
