The 32-year-old veteran then birdied the final two holes at the Country Club of Jackson to move to 20 under and take a one-shot lead into Sunday’s final round.

Asked how he will prepare for the final round, Mitchell once again turned to football.

“I really need to plan my golf game,” he jokingly told the Golf Channel.

He will have plenty of time to do that Sunday as he will play Beau Hossler in the final round, looking for his second PGA Tour victory, but not until 2:20 pm ET. You can watch Sunday’s third round of the Sanderson Farms Championship on Golf Channel starting at 3:30 pm ET.
