Steve Kerr Responds to Warriors’ First Preseason Game

There was certainly some action taken from the Warriors’ first preseason game against the Clippers in Hawaii on Saturday and Steve Kerr has spoken to some of you.

The Warriors won by one point 91-90, thanks to Lindy Waters III’s clutch three in the dying seconds.

One thing Kerr liked was the team’s starting quarterback Stephen Curry De’Anthony Melton.

“They look great together,” Kerr said. “They face each other. De’Anthony is a good shooter and playmaker. He gets into the mix on defense. I’m a big fan.”

The veteran coach was also asked about the players who will start the game, Curry, Melton, Jonathan Kuminga, Draymond Green, and Trayce Jackson-Davis, and he did not recommend.

“It’s not good,” Kerr said. “It’s not good, but it’s everyone’s preseason, so we didn’t have a good rhythm coming out, a slow start. It’s still good to get those five guys down and see what it looks like. “

Before the game, Kerr explained that the Golden State coaching staff did not want to test the frontcourt combination of Jonathan Kuminga, Draymond Green and Trayce Jackson-Davis during the regular season.

So pre-season is the time to do it.

“We have to see, because last year we were not comfortable going that way,” said Kerr before the game. “We were going to play with Draymond for four. Trayce gives us a shot-blocker next to him. We want to play JK. If it’s good for the three, and it works with those guys, we’ll see. And if not, we will adapt. But, now is the time to try these things and see what combinations work. “

It will be interesting to see if coach Kerr tries out this frontcourt lineup during the preseason.
