NBA Salaries: Highest-paid college alumni by year

The Kentucky alumni ranked No. 1 as the highest paid point guard in the NBA in 2014 and is unlikely to give up anytime soon. When the Wildcats replaced the Huskies in the top spot, they earned a combined $107 million. Last year, their payroll had risen to $398 million, about 8 percent of the NBA’s total payroll.

Gone are the days when North Carolina topped the salary rankings. A Tar Heel alumni has not been ranked in the Top 8 since the 2019-20 season.

Below are the estimates year by year since 1990-91, the earliest date for which we have data. (The highest paid player for each college is in parentheses.)
