Jorginho made a demand at Arsenal after signing a new contract

Jorginho wants Arsenal’s board to offer manager Mikel Arteta a new long-term contract.

With more than a year left on his current deal with the Gunners, Arteta, who took over in December 2019, revealed last month that no updates were forthcoming on a potential extension.

Arteta’s tenure has brought a sense of renewed hope and progress to the Emirates Stadium. Guiding the club to the quarterfinals of the Champions League in 14 years is a testament to his managerial ability and tactical nous.

Furthermore, the tangible satisfaction that comes from the 42-year-old’s demeanor is not lost on anyone, especially as the Gunners find themselves in a promising position to take the Premier League title.

Due to these circumstances, it is expected that Arteta, if offered a new contract, would easily accept it. His commitment to the club’s long-term vision, coupled with the relationships he has built with key figures such as sporting director Edu Gaspar, underlines the importance of retaining his services.

He just signed a new contract himself, said Jorginho ESPN with his hope and expectation that Arteta stays.

“I can hear him feeling good here and in fact I don’t see him leaving,” he said. “It is important that the club stays because he, Edu, the board, the whole club, have created something special. I can’t believe that he also wants to leave.”

Jorginho’s arrival at Arsenal from Chelsea in January 2023 marked a pivotal moment for the Gunners, bringing with him a wealth of leadership skills and qualities that have proved vital to the club’s recent success.

Asked how relaxed the management environment is in the north London area compared to the west London club – where Mauricio Pochettino’s future hangs in the balance – Jorginho said: “You’ve got a way to go.

“You go there even if you’re not part of the job. It’s very clear. Everyone here wants to look at each one.”

Arsenal take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, looking to win to keep themselves in the Premier League.
