Imran Tahir’s maiden three-wicket haul beats Texas Gladiators in NCL T10 2024 Eliminator

In the exciting competition of National Cricket League (NCL) T10 2024veteran leg spinner Imran Tahir gave a match-winning performance, resulting in Atlanta Kings in a massive 8 wicket win over Texas Gladiators in the elimination game. Tahir, aged 45, rolled back the years with his amazing bowling, taking 4 crucial wickets that left the Gladiators reeling and took Amakhosi to the finals of the tournament.

Tahir’s brilliant spell started in the first over of the Gladiators’ innings. Dawid Malanknown for his explosive batting, was Tahir’s first victim after attempting a shot at square leg, but saw Shubham Chopra pull off an amazing diving catch. This early success set the tone for what was to come.

The real highlight, however, came in the 8th over when Tahir produced a stunning three-wicket haul, single-handedly ending the Texas Gladiators’ batting line-up.

His second wicket of the match saw Kennar Lewisin an attempt to clear the boundary, lift the ball up into the air. Sam Billingsstanding still for a long time, he safely ended the hold just inside the ropes, bringing Lewis back to the tent.

On the next delivery, Tahir struck again. Usman Rafiqtrying to raise the scoring rate, he shot straight to mid-wicket but found the ever-alert Billings and, taking a clean sweep, dismissed Rafiq for a duck.

Tahir covered her amazing dress by cleaning Ashmead Nedd with a perfect spin delivery that left the batter with no answer. His figures of 4 wickets for just 6 runs in his two overs, including a triple-wicket maiden, earned him the Player of the Year award.

The Texas Gladiators are falling

Batting first, the Texas Gladiators struggled to build momentum as Tahir and the rest of the Atlanta Kings forwards applied relentless pressure. The Gladiators were bowled out for 93 runs in just 9.5 overs, with no batsman able to make a noticeable impact after Tahir’s demolition act.

In response, the Atlanta Kings made light work of the 94-run target. Led by the batting of Billings, who scored 47 runs off just 20 balls, including 3 fours and 5 towering sixes, Amakhosi chased down the total with ease. They reached 94/2 in just 7.4 overs, won by 8 wickets and secured their place in the NCL T10 2024 final.
