Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed this afternoon and Luton Town are likely to join them.
The Clarets needed a win at Tottenham to have any chance of taking their fight to the final day and it looked set when Jacob Bruun Larsen put them ahead in North London.

They couldn’t hold on, however, with Pedro Porro scoring the equalizer after seven minutes and Micky van de Ven sealing the win for Spurs with eight minutes to go.
The defeat leaves Vincent Kompany’s men four points clear of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who face Chelsea this evening.
Kompany told BBC Sport: “I’m very lucky to be around good people, hard-working players, staff and fans who have supported the club for generations. That’s what we try to do every weekend.
“Today the Premier League is over but tomorrow we start the first day of doing everything we can to return to the Premier League.
“The game went slowly as others have gone for us this season. We created chances but this is where we missed the last pass.
“I didn’t come modestly and I feel sorry for us but if you take every game, every season as something to learn from, this is the step we need to get into our game.”

Luton are within three points of Forest but a very low goal difference means they also face the reality of a return to the Championship.
The Hatters also went ahead through Albert Sambi Lokonga but, like Burnley, they fell and goals from James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek and George Earthy turned the game in West Ham’s favour.
Luton manager Rob Edwards was in tears when the final whistle was blown. He said: “I am a bitter person and I go to our fans and seeing their reaction brought tears to my eyes.
“The love and affection they gave us, which goes both ways and is different in football these days. I feel sad, I didn’t want to let anyone down and I feel responsible. Thank you to the cast and crew, they gave me the best 18 months of my life.

“We brought a certain spirit, something down-to-earth and changed our ideas as we went. What makes me proud is the way we have progressed in the toughest league in the world.
“We have things that happen but I don’t make excuses. All relegation teams will have it. We failed but we must learn and continue to improve.
“I’m always learning and there’s more I know than I know. I loved competing with the best and it makes me hungry to be here again. The fire is burning.”
He continued: “We have grown a lot, this club is going in one direction. The growth this team has shown makes me very proud. I care about how we go and showing the competitiveness we’ve been able to bring to the league makes us better.
“In the end it just became too much for us.”
