Golf Business News – Crail will host the opening event of the Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour

Crail Golfing Society, a world-class 36-hole club situated on the famous Fife coast, has been chosen to host the inaugural Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour for 2025 offering ambitious girls and women players the ultimate challenge to launch a full programme.

Up to 50 novice players from across Scotland will visit Crail Golfing Society on April 1, as the second season of the standout Tour continues with an 18-hole playoff event at Craighead Links.

“We are delighted to be the first venue for the 2025 tour and are delighted to showcase Craighead Links to these dedicated golfers,” said Jane Green, Chair of the Crail Golfing Society. “Crail has a proud history of supporting women’s golf, including our recent hosting of the AIG Women’s Open Final Qualifying, and we look to continue this in line with our commitment to the R&A Women in Golf Charter.”

Designed by renowned American architect Gil Hanse, the par-72 layout offers spectacular clifftop views with ancient walls running throughout to provide a completely unique experience, and a true championship test. Craighead Links has hosted a number of national and international championships, including the Scottish Girls in 2012 and the British Seniors Women’s Championship in 2018.

The Crail Golfing Society currently has over 320 women members and their commitment to promoting women’s participation in the game of golf runs deep. To provide equal opportunities for women members through dedicated events, training programs and competitions and strong representation in the Board of Directors and committee structure. By encouraging female golfers of all ages and abilities, Crail aims to inspire future generations and strengthen the presence of women in the sport.

“We are delighted to launch our 2025 calendar at Crail and add to the Association’s extensive history of supporting the women’s game,” said Alan Tait, founder of the Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour. “Craighead Links is an excellent facility for competitive golf and I am sure it will prove one of the most interesting tournaments on Tour.”

Comprised of 14 events at top venues across the country, the Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour is open to all girls and women with a valid disability certificate. The top six players from both qualifying divisions will compete in the season finale at Cabot Highlands in September, while other courses selected for the program include Fairmont St Andrews, Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club, Royal Dornoch and Murrayshall.
