The Calgary Flames will trade a first-round pick but only a long-term option
Eric Francis of Sportsnet: After trading Elias Lindholm last season, the Calgary Flames have been looking and talking about the need for another center.
“When we lost Lindholm, the right center of your six, that’s the kind of thing you’d like to get.
“Is it easy to find? Probably not.”
The ideal candidate for GM Craig Conroy’s long-term plan would be to find a 23-25 year old who already has some experience.

They are not cheap either. The Montreal Canadiens sent first and third round picks to the Chicago Blackhawks for Kirby Dach.
Conroy wouldn’t move first with a short-term option but if he could find someone who would be his long-term plan, he would consider it.
“But if it was a first-round pick for a guy that’s going to last a long time, we’d be open to that.”
“Institutions are difficult. It’s a tough market. If you have them, you really don’t want to give them up. So that’s my job, to look and see if there’s anything there.”
The Flames current depth chart is down the middle, along with their age.

Management changes could be an option if the Buffalo Sabers don’t change things
The fourth season: It hasn’t been the start to the season the Buffalo Sabers were hoping for, and if they don’t turn things around, there could be changes coming according to David Pagnotta Hello Hockey Show.
“If their season doesn’t go well, there will be at least internal, discussions from the top about making a change in the GM. That doesn’t mean, from what I’m told, that Kevyn Adams is out, completely. I think he will be promoted to a different position and a new GM will come in. I think they have someone in mind, that’s what I believe in.”
Nothing seems imminent but they are looking at options if something is needed.
