The LIV Golf Promotions, a tournament that offers a direct route to the riches of the main LIV Golf League, will be held at the Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia from December 12-14.

Last year the top three players from the LIV Golf Promotions event earned a place in the LIV Golf League, however only the top finisher is guaranteed a place in the 2025 league, a move made to allow teams flexibility during the offseason. to develop their plans this off-season.

The tournament features four rounds of stroke play over three days, including 36 holes on the final day.

Only the top 20 players and ties after 18 holes will advance to the second day’s play, after which an additional group of previously qualified players will join the field and the scores will be reset.

A second cut is made after 36 holes, with only the top 20 players and ties advancing to the final two rounds, with scores reset again.

The winner will receive automatic promotion to the 2025 LIV Golf League, while the top 10 finishers, including ties, will earn full exemptions from all events on the Asian Tour-sanctioned International Series.

As well as providing a path to the big league, LIV Golf Promotions is also offering a $1.5 million prize fund, with the winner picking up $200,000.

Professional and novice players from all over the world will be eligible to participate along with those deferred from the LIV Golf League, as well as those without a team commitment in 2025 who finished in the Open Zone (25th-48th) in the 2024 LIV Golf League standings.

Kalle Samooja, Branden Grace, Scott Vincent, Kieran Vincent and Bubba Watson all lost places in the LIV Golf League after finishing bottom of the 2024 season last month, but will all have a chance to win back their places.

Watson, who was the captain of the RangeGoats GC, was initially disqualified because he claimed to be the captain of the team, but the rules were changed so that he was no longer protected.

The LIV Golf Promotions tournament will be broadcast live on LIV Golf Plus, LIV Golf’s YouTube channel, and will be broadcast live on Thursdays and Fridays from 12-4pm. and Saturday from 12.30-5pm. (all local times).
