Another golf season is coming to an end, and while the richest pros on the PGA Tour and LIV Golf have gotten richer over the course of the year, we don’t have a final deal that officially ends golf’s divorce.

As a result, the two sides continue on their separate paths. The PGA Tour, for example, is considering a number of changes to reduce field sizes at tournaments to a manageable size. The changes are currently before the Players Advisory Council, awaiting their decision.

Among the strategies to achieve their goal of smaller tournaments is the elimination of Monday tournaments in some tournaments, and the reduction of places available in Quality Qualifiers on Mondays in other events.

For those who don’t know, Monday Qualifiers provide an opportunity for non-Tour players to play their way into that week’s tournament. It has been the source of many exciting stories of unknown players earning a spot in PGA Tour events.

But now that may be over. Enter LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman’s son, Greg Norman Jr.

When he heard about the possible changes to the PGA Tour Monday Qualifiers, Norman Jr. he went to X to discuss LIV’s wild view that he had “preached for a long time.”

The concept? Run through weekly qualifiers at LIV events to form a “Team of the People” to compete against champions like Bryson DeChambeau and Bryson DeChambeau.

“What it should be… I’ve been preaching for a long time that LIV should open weekly qualifiers for the People’s Team, a team that anyone can join,” Norman Jr. wrote. in X. “If you play well, you stay on the team, and the community as a whole can participate in shared ownership and governance.”

Now, qualifying events may prevent any true Average Joe hackers from meeting the pros, as is the case with the Monday Qualifiers on the PGA Tour. But it will still provide a new and exciting way to attract sports fans to the fledgling league.

Whether it can be real or not is another question. Norman’s old contract with LIV expires at the end of the year, we do not yet know if it will be renewed or if someone else will manage LIV Golf.
