Golf Business News – Arora Group appoints Managing Director of Golf

The Arora Group has appointed experienced golf industry leader Gerry Ivers as Managing Director of Golf to lead ambitious plans to grow its portfolio of golf properties in the UK and Europe.

Ivers, who spent 20 years as General Manager of Queenwood Golf Club, will oversee day-to-day operations at The Buckinghamshire, newly established as a private members club following a £10 million clubhouse refurbishment, and clubhouse upgrade. a new course at Ryder Cup candidate Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa.

The Arora Group is an established hotel owner and operator and one of the UK’s largest private family businesses. Its portfolio of landmark properties includes Fairmont Windsor Park and Sofitel London Heathrow. Now, it aims to grow its golf division and become the leading owner of golf properties in the UK and Europe.

Buckinghamshire Golf Club reopened earlier this year following a £10m refurbishment

In April 2024, the Arora Group re-opened Buckinghamshire as the current private members club following a more than £10 million renovation, including the addition of seven luxury bedrooms within the 350-year-old country clubhouse.

The club, located 15 miles from West London and 10 miles from Heathrow Airport, is successfully attracting new London-based and international membership.

Ivers’ international experience and current expertise, including overseeing the opening of Queenwood, proved a key factor in the appointment as the Arora Group embarks on a major project to develop a new golf course at Luton Hoo. Plans for the new course, just 50 minutes north of Central London, have been approved as part of the official bid to host the upcoming Ryder Cup.
