ME AND MY TOUR: MICHAEL DAWSON – Golf News
When did you first pick up a golf club..
I must have been eight or nine years old when I first had a swing. I had a club – it must have been my dad’s I think – and I went up to the playground at my school with half a dozen balls and just hit them around.
I joined my first golf club, Catterick, when I was about 12 years old. It is at Catterrick Garrison military camp in North Yorkshire. I used to be dropped off at the club during the summer holidays and three mates and I would spend six weeks playing golf every day.
It’s a great way to spend four or five hours with your friends when you have all that time on your hands, like we did as kids back then.
I’m now a member of Wetherby Golf Club, so I haven’t lost too much!
What is your first vacation memory?
