NHL Rumors: Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers, and Boston Bruins
The Minnesota Wild are not considering extensions for Kirill Kaprizov at this time
NHL.com: Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin when asked about Kirill Kaprizov being eligible for a contract extension on July 1 and if he takes his best future when doing their current business.
“No. We are very far from that. We are just focusing on the season. We just want to play. Kirill just wants to play hockey. We just want to play hockey. We’ll get to all that later.”
At least $12 million for Igor Shesterkin?
Larry Brooks of the NY Post: Assume the New York Rangers will end up extending goaltender Igor Shesterkin at least $12 million a year. Going to $11.5 million or more has to do with hard salary and not where he plays. Whenever he re-signs, there will be a debate if goalies should make that much money.
Could there be a ‘big’ change to the Boston Bruins soon?
Jimmy Murphy of RG.org: There is talk/leak that the Boston Bruins may be looking to make a ‘big’ change. Now, could this be a coaching change or a trade? The source said:
“It’s no secret that he wants a player who scores goals in the top 6, but don’t be surprised if he picks another center in the top 6. Are we talking about the official institution No. 1? Maybe not because those are hard to find on the commercial market, but maybe 1B as they already have it in Lindholm. “
Sources said last week that the Bruins were talking with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who had some interest in defenseman Brandon Carlo. The Blue Jackets say Dante Fabbro is being waived, so that may put the negotiations on hold.
Another source said the Bruins have spoken with the Utah Hockey Club and the Anaheim Ducks. Ducks outfielder Trevor Zegras has been in the headlines, but he didn’t start the season well.
Jim Montgomery won the Jack Adams award in 2023. He doesn’t think his message is out of date but he is at a loss for words about what happened in the show.
