Rory McIlroy took home the Race to Dubai title for the sixth time after winning the DP World Tour Championship, matching Seve Ballesteros’ tally and moving past record holder Colin Montgomerie.

He achieved two victories in this tournament while wearing a Nike golf jersey, which seems to have served him well in his four titles this year.

Since signing a 10-year, $200 million deal with the brand, he has been seen wearing Nike polo shirts including exclusive collaborations with the company.

On the first day of the DP World Tour Championship, he wore a short-sleeved green polo from the range. The Nike Tour polo costs £80 but golfers can get the Dri-Fit Victory version for £40. There are great discounts on the Nike website and in the American Golf Black Friday sale.

McIlroy was decked out in Nike for the tournament, wearing the Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 shoes. The shoes cost £210 and are waterproof and studded – something he probably won’t have to worry about in the Dubai summer.

McIlroy is often seen wearing special versions of the shoes and he is not the only top golfer to wear them. Brooks Koepka, Tommy Fleetwood, Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler all choose the best Nike shoes.

The third way in the world to use Nike clothing is as part of a profitable contract with the sportswear brand. McIlroy earned an estimated $10 million to $20 million last year from Nike as part of a massive 10-year deal he signed in 2017 to wear their apparel.

“Nike is the world’s leading sports brand and naturally a partner I want to be associated with. “Being one of the most established athletes is a dream come true and makes me one of the most competitive sports in the world,” McIlroy said of working with the American giants.

The deal doesn’t extend to his clubs and golf bag though.

He signed a separate 10-year $100m deal with Taylormade to use the brand’s clubs and equipment bags and currently uses the TaylorMade Qi10 driver.
