Manchester United could not end Arsenal’s Premier League title dreams as they lost 1-0 at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils returned home eager to improve on their embarrassing 4-0 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace earlier in the week. Although they failed to beat Arsenal, they showed some improvement, despite being without key players such as Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.
But did any players impress? Here are United’s best and worst players since the loss, courtesy of you 90min player ratings.
Andre Onana – 6/10
It is not the first time that this man between the sticks has been the best player on the field for United, and when we face Arsenal, Andre Onana has been the same again.
He will expect to be in the limelight midway through the game, with Arsenal often on fire in front of goal and United likely to concede buckets of shots. Although the surprising thing is that he was not forced to make many saves, but what he did prevent the Gunners from running away with it.
He blocked a powerful shot from Gabriel Martinelli to deny Arsenal a second, and moments later stopped a similar effort from Declan Rice. Onana was also very helpful on his feet, providing reliable routes to the press.
Honorable mention
Jonny Evans: 6/10
Jonny Evans proved vital in United’s top line, using his awareness to find himself in the right places at the right time.
He was forced to feature in defense alongside Diogo Dalot, Casemiro and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and stood out among his peers to keep Arsenal out. Mind you, it wasn’t hard to ask to look better than Casemiro.
Casemiro: 3/10
Casemiro is limited 90 min worst player? No shock really. The part-time full-back looked like a rabbit at the lights before Arsenal’s attack and by all accounts looked useless.
However, he looked better than he did when they beat Crystal Palace, but the quality is low.
His worst mistake arguably led to Leandro Trossard’s goal, the only one needed for Arsenal’s victory, when he left his position completely and allowed the Gunners to be onside.
It looks like he’s been going up and down the field, and he shouldn’t be one of the regular starters for this team.
Speaking of shame
Rasmus Hojlund: 4/10
Rasmus Hojlund struggled against Arsenal throughout. While he should have been looking to build United’s attack, he was too busy playing Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba – who looked classier than the striker.
United were without Rashford, so Hojlund had to step up to provide the energy. He didn’t do this, instead finding himself sent off as his side chased an equaliser.
