Golf Business News – Royal Portrush appoints new General Manager

Before its 153 editionrd Next year’s Open Championship, Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland has announced the appointment of a new general manager.
Following the move by former General Manager John Lawler to take up the same role at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at Wimbledon, the County Antrim club will welcome his successor on December 2 when Danny Campbell takes up his duties.
Campbell, who was Commercial Director of the St Andrews Links Trust from 1999-2023, comes to Portrush from the American golf equipment company. He is currently the Chairman of St. Leonards School, a co-educational and boarding school in St Andrews, which also has a junior golf school.
Handy, Campbell has over 20 years’ experience as a Chief Executive at St Andrews, where he was responsible for delivering the St Andrews experience to over 3,000 local club members, as well as the thousands of visitors who play there every year.
He also worked closely with the R&A in negotiating four venue agreements for the Open Championship, as well as the Senior Open, the Walker Cup and three Women’s Open Championships.
