Another important win for Arsenal yesterday was against Manchester United, ensuring that the race for the Premier League title will reach the final day of the season. And after the title race, we can see what plans they will have for this summer’s transfer market.
As previously reported, Jorrel Hato could be a name to watch for Arsenal. Ajax want to keep him, which is why they recently extended his contract until June 2028. But Arsenal are still willing and interested. He is high on the club’s list so let’s see after the title race if he decides to give the 18-year-old, who can play at centre-back or on the left, another try.
With Aaron Ramsdale’s future in doubt, Arsenal will also 100% bring in a new back-up goalkeeper this summer. One name mentioned is former Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, but my understanding is that Szczesny has not clarified his situation with Juventus at this stage. Juventus are interested in Monza goalkeeper Di Gregorio but nothing has been decided yet, so for Szczesny everything has been quiet so far.
Chelsea are also interested in the goalkeeper market, from what I hear, and I know there have been reports of another former Arsenal player as Emi Martinez has been linked with the Blues after his excellent form for Aston Villa. At the moment, Martinez is fully focused on Villa and loves being at the club. We’ll see what Chelsea decide to do, but it’s nothing concrete at this stage.
I have been in Paris and we know that Kylian Mbappe said goodbye to PSG’s ‘Ultras’ for the game against Toulouse. Mbappe’s next step is Real Madrid, but for PSG it is also an important deal because although they lose their star player as a free agent, without receiving transfer money from Real Madrid, they also save a lot of money by letting him go.
Why? Because the loyalty bonus agreed between Mbappe and PSG this season was around €80m. Now this will not be paid because he is leaving the club as a free agent, so that is saved for 80 million euros from PSG, as well as his salary and bonuses that would have been in his contract next season, but which did not start.
In total, Paris Saint-Germain sources estimate that this will save the club more than 200 million euros. This means that PSG will have new money to invest in the market, and I already told you a few days ago that they will discuss the future of other players – they tied Warren Zaire-Emery to a new contract, while feeling. is that Xavi Simons will be loaned out again, not going on a permanent exchange. After that they will push to sign new ones.
So, who could they bring in? The center forward can be a place to watch, and they value Victor Osimhen. The Napoli striker remains one of the options, but not the only one, while in midfield they also have a long-term interest in Bernardo Silva. He was the best last summer, so let’s see what they decide to do this year. They also want one centre-back, although it could be two.
So, in total, PSG can save 200 million euros from Mbappe’s departure, and the plan is to reinvest in four or five players.
It looks like it’s going to be a busy season for Real Madrid. Along with Mbappe, we are entering the crucial hours for the future of the legendary midfielder Luka Modric. His agent will have a meeting with the president Florentino Perez – nothing has been decided, but the decision is close.
In the following days, we will know if Modric will continue at Real Madrid, or leave the club as a free agent. So the days and hours are important for Modric, and for another famous player in Toni Kroos. Nothing is signed, decided or finished, so he will also have talks with Florentino Perez – it will be time for the final decision and we will see what happens with Modric and Kroos.
We have had a lot of reports on Manchester United and the right back position. Another thing to mention is that Denzel Dumfries, who is another name being linked, has a good chance of leaving Inter Milan in the next transfer window. He is out of contract in 2025, but there is still no deal to extend his contract, so it is a real possibility to see him leave for another opportunity.
The Premier League could be an option for Dumfries, but a transfer deal involving Dumfries and Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not currently being discussed. This swap deal is unexpected, but let’s see what United decide to do with the right-back position. We’ll see what Dumfries decide to do as there will be plenty of options to choose from and he’s one to watch in the summer transfer window.
Regarding Wan-Bissaka, there has been interest in him since December but at the moment, I don’t know about the negotiations for the player. It could be something to watch in the summer, because with a year left on his contract, Man United may be open to selling him if they get a good offer.
Some Liverpool fans have been anxious to know when we will get an official announcement that Arne Slot will be the new manager, but I have no information on this yet – it is up to the clubs to decide the timing of such announcements.
Anyway, rest assured there is no news in this – a done deal. Everything is ready, as previously reported, the clubs agreed on the compensation, and the Dutch manager has agreed to his contract with Liverpool.
Eric Choupo-Moting will leave Bayern Munich as a free agent at the end of the season as his contract expires – decision confirmed.
As for the striker’s next move, I don’t have any concrete words to list yet. We have to be patient – free agents take their time to consider opportunities.
Choupo-Moting is keeping his options open as he was open to a move to the Premier League in January, but again, nothing is happening yet.
