Pakistan News – Cricket Ireland confirms Pakistan tour in 2025; PCB says there is no deal yet

Cricket Ireland has officially confirmed the men’s first tour of Pakistan in August and September next year. The series, which will see Ireland and Pakistan play three T20Is and three ODIs, was part of the Future Tours Program (FTP), scheduled for September 2025.

The release does not mention details of dates and locations, or any other details regarding the tour schedule. This follows the Ireland Women’s Tour to Pakistan, which also featured three ODIs and three T20Is, in November 2022.

The decision was finalized after PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Cricket Ireland chairman Brain MacNeice. The PCB initially issued a statement confirming that Ireland would play the Test series again in Pakistan, which was not part of the FTP.

“The chairman of Cricket Ireland has said that the Ireland team will visit Pakistan next year in August-September for Tests and will review the possibility of a women’s team tour of Pakistan soon,” the PCB statement said.

When ESPNcricinfo contacted the PCB for more details, the PCB denied that any such Test series was officially agreed, despite the board’s own statement clearly confirming it. A Cricket Ireland spokesperson said details of the tour schedule would be discussed by the two boards in the future.

Hours after the PCB was issued, Cricket Ireland released an official statement on its website relating to Naqvi’s meeting with MacNeice. “In separate discussions”, it confirmed that the two boards “were able to agree on the men’s visit next year – this will be a historic first, coming after the trip to Pakistan by our senior women in 2022.”

The Pakistan men’s team is currently in Ireland participating in a three-match T20I series. The teams split the first two games 1-1, and the second game decided the series.
