Fans react as GT face elimination from IPL 2024 Playoffs after rain-foil match against KKR
Gujarat Titans (GT)former finalists and champions of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022, they saw their playoff dreams dashed in heartbreaking fashion. Faced with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 63, their hopes were dashed as incessant rain led to the match being abandoned at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The unfortunate incident marked GT’s first elimination from the playoffs since the inception of the IPL in 2022.
Despite GT’s earlier ambitions of winning to secure a play-off spot, the game that was left sealed their fate of elimination. As he did not score in the match against KKR, the Titans found themselves out of the contention for the play-offs, a bitter pill for the franchise and its supporters to swallow.
Playoff hopes dashed: Gujarat Titans’ last-ditch efforts went in vain
Before the abandoned game, GT were on a dangerous path, needing to win their remaining games to keep their playoff hopes alive. Their recent victory over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and it revived their hope for good for a while. However, KKR’s rain-ravaged encounter was the final blow to their aspirations.
The relegation left GT unable to accumulate the required points, effectively extinguishing any playoff hopes. Although they have now managed to win their last league match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)it can only be a consolation, as their IPL 2024 journey has come to an abrupt end.

it’s not fair that GT was deprived of the chance to be in the tournament because of the rain…through no fault of their own. It’s better that both teams are given 2points..not one point…
