Golf fans woke up to shocking news Friday morning as Scottie Scheffler was arrested outside Valhalla Golf Club prior to Round 2 of the PGA Championship.

According to multiple reports, there was a fatal accident early in the morning on the road leading to the club involving a bus and a pedestrian. Some time later, Scheffler arrived outside Valhalla ahead of his scheduled time of 8:48 am.

As Scheffler tried to navigate traffic, the officer attempted to stop his car, but Scheffler continued driving a short distance.

Darling wrote in X that “the officer then started yelling at Scheffler to get out of the car. When Scheffler got out of the car, the officer shoved Scheffler into the car and immediately handcuffed him.”

“For now, he’s going to jail,” said the police officer in the video. “You’re going to go to jail, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

According to police records, Scheffler was booked into the Louisville Municipal Jail Department at 7:28 a.m. The listed charges include second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals for a traffic officer.

Scheffler was released on personal recognizance at 8:40 a.m. and received a police escort back to the course, arriving around 9:12 a.m. The PGA of America has not released a statement regarding the incident.

Scheffler, currently the World No. 1, shot a 4-under 67 during the 1st round to sit in T12 after 18 holes. He enters the PGA Championship having won his last five tournaments, including the Masters.
