CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad chose to field first after winning the toss. Virat Kohli (47 runs) and Faf du Plessis (54 runs) provided a solid foundation for RCB, who posted a challenging total of 218/5. In reply, CSK’s chase got off to a rough start with Gaikwad’s early dismissal. Despite heroic efforts from Rachin Ravindra (61), Jadeja (42 not out) again MS Dhoni (23), CSK finally failed, succumbing to the pressure of the chase.
