Arteta vows to bring the Premier League title to Arsenal after a disappointing final day

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke to fans at the Emirates Stadium following their second-place finish in the Premier League.

The Gunners did their job by beating Everton 2-1 thanks to Kai Havertz’s late winner, but Manchester City’s 3-1 win at West Ham means they finish the campaign two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side.

It marks another close call for the North London outfit, who have led the season for most of the 2022-23 season.

But just like last year, they fell short and will have to meet again when Arteta tries to win the coveted sixth title since joining the club from City in 2019.

The player from Spain has promised the fans inside the stadium that they will be fulfilled with his players no matter what happens.

He said: “I am very proud. First of all congratulations to Manchester City, they are the champions, and they have been amazing since December.

“We tried with everything we had. You can see how much we wanted it, we really tried. It wasn’t enough, unfortunately.

“We have beaten all the records this club has ever had without winning it. This is the most competitive league in history and we have to be better. Now we need to find ways to improve it.

One of the dreams I had when I joined was to reconnect everyone, to bring this place to a different level.

“We are on that journey right now. I’m sad because I really wanted to move that trophy today because it would mean the world to them but we’re close, that’s for sure.

Now we have to be more determined, more courageous, more ambitious, and we need to go to the next level. We need to deliver.”

Only Jurgen Klopp has managed to topple Manchester City since Pep Guardiola won his first title after joining from Bayern Munich.

Arteta has learned his trade under the legendary tactician but will have to do some further research ahead of what will be another impressive campaign in 2024-25.
