Roland Garros is just around the corner Jessica Pegula again Matteo Berrettini.
Both players withdrew before Thursday’s match, saying they could not recover from injury in time to play in the main event, which starts on Sunday May 26 in Paris.
Pegula, who hasn’t played since early April, says she plans to prepare for the grass court season.
“Unfortunately pulling out of @rolandgarros this year,” the World No.5 wrote on Twitter. “I’m going to train normally again (for many weeks without any problem) but I played safe with recovery and I’m going back to play. If I had another 5-7 days I would be 100 percent there. So I’ll definitely be back for the full hay season and the rest of the summer and grind all year.”
