Kyle Walker has revealed that he almost left Manchester City in the summer to join Bayern Munich for personal reasons.
Walker, 33, has faced health issues that have often made headlines in recent years.
He admitted that he had reached a point where he felt the need to leave England to start afresh.
While reflecting on his decision to stay at City, Walker admitted that his situation would have been very different had he chosen to join Bayern Munich.
Despite considering moving abroad, he ultimately decided to stay at the Etihad Stadium, where he could continue his football career.
Looking back, the right back admits that things could have been very different for him as he almost left the club for Bayern Muncih.
He said (quoting The Telegraph):
“It would have been very different because I would have been in another team but that was a moment in my life when I felt that I wanted to leave England and it had nothing to do with football reasons.”
“It was a personal experience where I thought taking a break from England might have been good for me.
“But, first I have to think about football. That’s what I love to do and I felt that, if it ends, I would be happier at Manchester City than at Bayern Munich. “
