Luka Doncic and Rudy Gobert Talk About Wild Doncic Game-Winner
Luka Doncic and Rudy Gobert responded to Doncic’s dramatic game-winner in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday.
Doncic appeared on an Inside The NBA panel after the game and said that while he may not be the fastest player, he knew he had Gobert’s number in the speed department.
“I mean he’s tall… He can’t move — I can’t move fast… but I can move he,” said Doncic.
In the postgame press conference, Doncic also touched on his trash talk with Gobert after hitting the game-winning shot.
“So he can’t watch over you, huh?” the reporter asked Doncic, referring to what the Slovenian star appeared to say at the time.
“I didn’t say that,” said Doncic. “I was speaking Slovenian.”
Gobert was also asked about Doncic’s trash talk.
“I didn’t see or hear, but he says every game. So it’s not something new.”
Kyrie Irving, meanwhile, was full of praise for his fellow superstar.
“I’m surprised, I don’t use that word lightly either,” Irving said. “… I think you answered a lot of calls. When Luke first entered the league, there were many questions about what he would be. I know a few people mince their words.
“Watching him rise to become an all-time great is amazing and I don’t take it for granted because I played with the greatest player of all time… I want to support him and continue to be the greatest around him, keep showing him the ropes, and let him keep flying.”
After stealing the first two games of the series on the road, the Mavericks now return to Dallas for Game 3 and Game 4.
