A Changed Environment

A lot has changed since Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) defeated Catterll (28-1, 13 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision in their first fight in February 2022 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Taylor, 33, vacated three of his four 140-lb belts and lost his remaining WBO title when he lost last year to Teofimo Lopez in June 2023.

In that fight, Taylor looked like an outdated fighter who was nowhere near what he was during the best years of his life from 2019 to 2021.

We don’t know if Taylor was never as good as some boxing fans initially thought, as he never beat Regis Prograis and Jose Ramirez. Those

Catterll has fought twice since his loss, defeating then-unknown Darragh Foley and 38-year-old Jorge Linares. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has not thrown him to the wolves for some reason to include him in a talented team since his loss to Catterall, and that makes you wonder a little.
