The reason for Kohli’s absence
As reported by the Indian Express, a representative of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shed light on Kohli’s absence from the first departure. Kohli has informed the BCCI of his previous commitments in New York, with plans to go there on the morning of May 30. With India set to play a warm-up match on June 1, it seems likely that Kohli will miss the match due to late travel.
“Kohli told us in advance that he will join the team late and that is why the BCCI has kept his visa to continue. He is expected to fly to New York in the morning of May 30. BCCI has accepted his request,” said a BCCI official to the Indian Express.
